It is with great pleasure that we welcome Ling Koay to Cortex City!
We seem to attract multi-talented people to our great city, and Ling is certainly no exception. While you’ll soon hear her claim that she’s lazy, she’s in fact one of the hardest working people I know. Mix that working discipline with being really good at what she does, and you have a killer combination. Here’s what she said when I asked for a short introduction:
“Ling may sound Chinese to you but I am Malaysian born in Penang, grew up in Kuala Lumpur, and during the past 15 years, I have lived in Melbourne, Örebro, Uppsala, Helsingborg, and now Stockholm. Growing up, my dad would tell us, ‘Get a job you love and you’ll never work a day.’ My mom would then say, ‘Be happy always, no matter what you do.’ I’m lazy by nature so I make it my life goal to always be happy because that keeps me motivated to get the job I love because that means no work and hence, lifelong happiness…“
Sounds like solid advice from mum and dad! Well, we have to ask — Ling, with all of the interesting places you’ve lived in, what made you want to become a citizen of Cortex City?
“I’m excited to be part of this community, bound to be legendary [editor’s note: Perhaps Ling means that Cortex City will be legendary, or that she will be. Or both. We did not dare to ask]. Thanks to The Mayor, it has been full of surprises so far. With strict membership rules 😉 I’m sure there will be many surprises to come from my fellow Cortexians, too.”
Join me in welcoming Ling to Cortex City! I believe she’ll make great contributions to our community.
